For the people behind the scenes…
Every day now there are messages going out on the various social media platforms regarding new player signings, club ground improvements, pre-season friendlies and those sort of announcements but I was sorry to read one in particular yesterday.
It was from Wadebridge Town and contained very sad news because after 11 years as secretary, Andy Ould is standing down due to illness.
For the time being he is remaining with the club, mainly to help the Seconds and Ladies teams as his health allows.
First thought obviously is to wish Andy all the best for the moment, but what a great job he has done in being secretary for at a club for 11 seasons - yes 11!. Lots of work involved and I'm sure a lot more than anyone like you or me can ever imagine.
And I know there are many others on the local footie scene that deserve a medal for what they do for their club.
So a thank you is certainly the least we should all give them because it's far too easy to forget how important they are, whether they are the secretary, tea hut person, ball boy, groundsman or whatever - give them a smile and shake their hand as the new season rolls out and you meet up with them.
